Do you ever wake up in the morning with a heavy feeling in your heart? Like, even though you got a full night of rest and everything should be right in your world, you just feel uninspired?
Sometimes day-to-day business just gets, well, kind of old.
Dare I even say… boring?
Personally, if I don’t feel inspired and motivated by what I’m doing, it becomes very difficult very quickly. That applies to everything in my life: cooking, staying in touch with friends, networking, and especially blogging.
Here’s what I’ve noticed: a person’s blog is often a symptom of how they’re feeling in their life and business. When the blog is inconsistent, uninteresting or completely neglected, it can be a sign that the business owner just isn’t really present with the business. They’re thinking about other things.
On the other hand, when the blog feels inspired, energized and engaging, that’s usually a very good indication that the entrepreneur is feeling the same way toward his or her work.
So, looking at your blog objectively, how are you feeling toward your business?
Here are some questions to ask yourself in creating the assessment:
- How often do you post?
- How fleshed out are the articles?
- Do you use images, and are they engaging and relevant?
- Do you find the content interesting?
Now if you looked at those questions and gave yourself a less-than-stellar rating, here are a few things you can do to zazz things up a little bit!
Take a Break
Sometimes, instead of working harder, what we actually need to do is step back for a bit. If you’re feeling inundated by your business and you’re starting to hate it a little bit – it’s time to take a break! If you step back, and take a couple days without thinking about your business at all, you’ll see a marked change in how interested you are when you come back on Monday morning.
Get Authentic Again
Sometimes the disengagement is more due to feeling like the work isn’t truly who we are. If you feel like your business doesn’t truly reflect who you are or what you want to share in the world, that’s really something to look at. If you continue down your current track for the next 10 years, will that bring you closer or farther away from your true dreams.
Find Ways to Add Fun
Personally, I have trouble getting work done if I can’t find a way to make it fun. To me, fun is the essence of life – if I can’t have fun with my newsletter, for instance, it won’t get done! Look for ways to add inspiration into the work and I’ll bet you it will get done!
